A PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE <3 // BERGHAIN // BERLIN, GERMANY // 04.05.17
BORSHCH ISSUE 02 MAGAZINE LAUNCH PARTY // BLENDER STUDIO // BERLIN, GERMANY // 28.01.18
BORSHCH celebrates its 2nd issue together with the old and new friends. Let’s come together on the dark January night to listen, talk and read about music, and toast to our newly born winter edition of BORSHCH.
BORSHCH #2 is inspired by the contemporary voices and iconic names, the latest releases and re-issued albums, and meditations about the role of a musician in today’s dynamic socio-cultural context. The issue introduces interviews with Rødhåd, Gudrun Gut, Perc, Steffi, and Volruptus. The issue questions the ideas behind a curation of Berlin Atonal in the conversations with the festival organizers and Varg, who also curated his Nordic Flora program as a part of this year’s Atonal. BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Species of Fishes give us precious history lessons on the electronic music in the pre-Internet era. The magazine also discovers DIY communities in Copenhagen with Loke Rahbek of Posh Isolation and brings to light electronic music culture in Kiev.
Live performances from Ivy’s Hands, Consumer Refund (Hybrid) will join us for live performances, while Akkamiau provides attendees with vinyl stories to intensify our joy through their deep hypnotic sets.
BORSHCH 03 LEAP FORWARD —GUEST-EDITED BY JEFF MILLS— LAUNCH PARTY // PALOMA // BERLIN, GERMANY // 25.8.18
We are excited to invite our old and new friends to celebrate the third issue of BORSHCH guest-edited by Jeff Mills.
We live in the fascinating times when cyberpunk stories that inspired many weirdo kids around the world to dream big and become either artists or scientists are turning into an everyday reality. Together with Jeff Mills, his collaborators, and our writers, we take a bold leap forward to speculate on how we, fragile human-beings and machine music addicts, can stay creative and adventurous in the technology-driven future. What happens with musicians when creativity becomes a controlled substance and machines seem to be more human than we are? We delve into Mills’ obsession with space and meet his collaborators from different art fields — Jessica Care Moore, Akaji Maro, and Jacqueline Caux. We also speak to Dasha Rush to discuss her fascination with astrophysics and explore ideas envisioned in Dark Hearts Of Space. Kelly Snook, a planetary scientist and instrument inventor, joins Jeff for a conversation to discuss his ideas about our expansion into outer space and to propose new scenarios of a utopian future.
We can't wait to present the LEAP FORWARD issue, speak about our collaboration with Jeff and speculate on a bright future of electronic music together with everybody who comes down to Paloma. Our launch is powered by the boiling dance floor energy of Portrait, Hyperaktivist, DJ Tool, and Árni.
